David Smith MP supports the current calls to merge the University of Canberra with the Canberra Institute of Technology.

This proposed merger would enable the strengthening of tertiary education in Canberra; allowing CIT the reset it needs whilst enabling both institutions to retain and reinforce their current strengths.

Mr. Smith believes current circumstances have opened a chance to discuss what this change could provide not just for Canberra, but Southern Canberra, allowing it to become a hub for tertiary education, and where the lines between higher education and vocational training can be crossed with ease.
